What does a typical first session look like?
With both couples and individuals, the first session helps us understand why you are seeking support and get to know more about your life, goals, and concerns.
I know therapy is helpful, but I worry I won’t know what to talk about.
No worries. That concern is very common, and our therapists work carefully to help clients find words for what they are experiencing and where they feel stuck.
How long does a typical session last.
Sessions are typically between 50-55 minutes long.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Please reach out to ask about current fees and availability for each therapist.
How long does therapy take?
After our initial session we will review what you want to work on and provide a typical duration. Typically we will schedule weekly sessions to start and review progress every 4-6 weeks. Some people find that is enough while others benefit for longer periods. Along the way we will collaborate together to make sure you are getting what you need.
How long have you been a therapist?
Our practice includes MacKay Crookston, LPC, and an additional therapist who is a Counseling Intern Therapist. We offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions, learn about fit, and decide which therapist may be the best match for your needs.
More Practical Details

Do you accept Insurance?

Can I cancel an appointment?
We understand that life happens. Please contact us for the current cancellation policy and we will explain what to expect before your first appointment.
What ages of clients do you see?
Please reach out about ages served, and we can help determine whether MacKay or our Counseling Intern Therapist is the best fit for your needs.
